With an education from both China and Australia, Weiqing brings an international knowledge and perspective to his tourism role in Far North Queensland. Weiqing moved to Queensland to begin postgraduate study at James Cook University and joined Holiday Au Pty Ltd in Cairns as an operating officer and marketing specialist. His role as an Approved Destination Status Tour Guide, focused on the Chinese market, allowing him to plan tailored client tours and develop new marketing strategies and programs ultimately providing high quality tourism experiences to visitors from China.
Weiqing is the Sales Promotion Executive Officer – Asian Market for the Cairns Colonial Club Resort and Palm Royale in Cairns and identifies market opportunities for new and existing products and services. His role also sees him develop market strategies, conduct sales trips with inbound operators and wholesalers, develop stakeholder relationships in the Asian market and promote the hotel at global trade shows.
Weiqing enjoys working in tourism as he gets to promote attractions in the region to domestic and international visitors and provide them with unforgettable travel experiences.

After initially studying a Bachelor of Science & Bachelor of Arts in China, Weiqing moved to Australia and began his tourism career as a tour guide whilst undertaking a Master of Business Administration at James Cook University. In his current role as Sales Promotion Executive Officer – Asian Market at the Cairns Colonial Club Resort and Palm Royale, Weiqing is focused on promoting the hotel, developing a strong destination profile and enhancing relationships in the Asian market.
