Rachel Stannard
Sofitel Brisbane Central
Brisbane
From the beginning, Rachel was interested in a career that would allow her to progress quickly and travel the world. The tourism industry, particularly hotels, seemed like the perfect choice.
After high school Rachel worked in the hospitality industry in restaurants and cafes and then in a hotel guest services agent role whilst studying a Bachelor of International Tourism and Hotel Management. During her studies, Rachel completed a sales internship with Sofitel Brisbane Central where she successfully transitioned to a Sales Coordinator role once she graduated. Her ability to quickly progress led to her promotion in 2018 to a Sales Executive role, as well as her promotion in early 2019 to Business Development Executive – MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions) and, later in 2019 Rachel successfully advanced to her current role as Business Development Manager.
Rachel’s sales role focuses on driving visitor demand to the hotel, promoting the accommodation at industry trade shows and constantly developing new opportunities for business. Rachel is passionate about being able to play a part in developing tourism in Queensland.
I’ve been absolutely terrified every moment of my life and I’ve never let it keep me from doing a single thing I wanted to do. - Georgia O’Keefe
