Amanda was a school student when she started working as a tour guide and kiosk supervisor at Capricorn Caves in Rockhampton. Since then, she has climbed the ranks to become the General Manager where she has responsibility for product development and marketing of Capricorn Caves to the international market.

In addition to her exceptional career progression, Amanda has been recognised with a range of industry awards including:

  • Australian Regional Tourism Network Queensland - Young Achiever Award (2013)
  • Young Achiever Award - Queensland Tourism Awards (2009)
  • The Simon Warner Memorial Young Achiever of the Year Award - Caravanning Queensland (2008)
  • Outstanding Contribution by a volunteer or employee at the Central Queensland and Great Barrier Southern Reef Tourism Awards (2008).

Amanda started in the tourism industry at the age of 15 in entry level roles and progressed to be the General Manager of Capricorn Caves by the age of 21. She has taken the business into the ever-changing digital world of social media and online bookings and, keen to encourage young people to follow tourism careers, has been involved in developing a program for high school students to complete a Certificate II in Tourism.
